Showing at Hasselt 'Dierendag'

Our broodmare Shannah was trained and prepared for a nineteenth century style performance at the 'Dierendag' in Hasselt. She was driven by Rik (driver) and Victor (groom).

Raats' Circus Carriage Drivers

The carriage we drove in the circus ring is a market wagon dated about 1870. The driver and the groom (Victor) are dressed in the same post civil war period. The carriage is designed to transport small cattle to the livestock market.

This three-color cob type broodmare Shannah again showed her excellent disposition, soundness and try. Two weeks before the show, we took this fourteen year old mare from the pasture and started her in carriage driving! We trained her daily in a gig and later in the market wagon building up towards heavy traffic situations. While entering the showring, the noise (music and audience) is about 90 db, harnessing must be done in the event hall, security was driving around in motorbikes... O' great Shannah.
